A Study on Signal Detection for MC-CDMA

(in English) Multi-carrier-code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is a promising candidate for the next generation mobile communication because of its high spectrum efficiency and capability to eliminate the adverse effect of inter-symbol interference (ISI) resulting from the multipath fading channel by applying guard interval. In the literature a signal detection method for MC-CDMA which uses the multipath components with different time delays as a virtual receive antennas to form multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), has been proposed,. Maximum likelihood detection (MLD) is an effective detection method in MIMO system, but the calculation cost increases exponentially with the number of users. In this paper, we propose an iterative signal detection method which utilizes the paths whose delay time is not the same among the multiple users in the MC-CDMA system described above. The bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed method is evaluated by computer simulation, and the results show the proposed method can reduce calculation cost with a little BER performance degradation.
