Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To improve communication robustness and extend transmission range, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) transmit beamforming method has been extensively studied and adopted in the IEEE802.11n draft standard. In transmit beamforming, not only the delay associated with CSI (Channel State Information) feedback protocol but also factors associated with implementation, such as processing delay time and distortion of analog devices, degrade the performance because of lowering the channel correlation. Because these implementation constraints depend on each implementation greatly, it is conceivable that transmit beamforming cannot achieve significant gains in some cases depending on the implementation. In this paper, we implement a prototype of transmit beamforming in IEEE802.11n capable of real-time processing using FPGA and evaluate performances in an actual environment, which is an office room. Our measurement results show that our prototype can achieve lower packet error rate compared with the normal IEEE802.11n without transmit beamforming. Moreover, we report behavior synthesis in our implementation.
