Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) To Improve dispersion tolerance for 40 Gb/s - 100 Gb/s class optical transmission, multi-level modulation and demodulation formats, which can reduce symbol rate (Bs), are widely focused on. By numerical calculation we found multi-level modulation and demodulation formats do not have sufficient tolerance as compared with the tolerance enhancement by just the reduction of the symbol rate in the same modulation format. Dispersion tolerance is not proportional to (1/Bs)^2, but proportional to 1/Bs under the condition that bit rate is the same value.
