Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) LTE-Advanced, to be standardized in 3GPP, employs “carrier aggregation” which aggregates the LTE bandwidth for realizing communications using wider bandwidth, and “spatial division multiplexing in uplink” which utilizes multi-antenna techniques. Moreover, transmitting diversity schemes for uplink control channel are also considered in order to improve the performance of control signals[1]-[3]; however, performance enhancement of the control signals does not contribute to enlarge the cell coverage of LTE-Advanced system since the LTE-Advanced system has to support both LTE terminals and LTE-Advanced terminals due to the backward compatibility requirements. In other words, the uplink performance of the LTE terminals restricts the cell coverage of the LTE-Advanced system. Hence, the necessity of the transmitting diversity schemes for LTE-Advanced uplink control channel should be discussed based on actual merits in the system performance other than cell coverage enhancements. In this paper, we investigate the transmitting diversity schemes for ACK/NACK signals and CQI (Channel Quality Indicator) signals, considering increase of the amount of information in the uplink control signals, and backward compatibility to the LTE terminals.
