The compact car for indoor purpose and autonomous support robots are developed to support the aging society, due to many obstacles in an indoor environment, high-accuracy positioning navigation system is required. In the conventional navigation system such as GPS (Global Positioning System) integrated with INS (Inertial Navigation System), wireless LAN (Local Area Network) based positioning system or RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system have problem on the aspect of system instability, long response time, and low accuracy. Therefore, we focus on developing VLC (Visible Light Communication) as an alternative technology for indoor positioning system. VLC has many advantages since it can be used in buildings, underground, and even in hospitals where radio frequency is prohibited. In this paper, a new method for indoor positioning system that utilizes only a single receiver and received optical power difference is proposed. Furthermore, to reduce the outage probability, Uniform Resizing method is proposed and the effectiveness of the method is confirmed by computer simulation under several configurations. |
