A TE10 -TE20 Mode Transducer Utilizing a Right-Angled Corner and Its Applications to Design of Passive Components

(in English) This paper describes a constitution method of a TE10-TE20 mode transducer utilizing an H-plane right-angled corner composed of a standard waveguide and an oversized waveguide. By optimizing the position and the diameter of metallic posts placed in the right-angled corner by the use of the H-plane planar circuit approach together with the short-circuiting method of fictitious ports, a compact and easily-fabricated mode transducer is realized. Next, an opposite phase power divider is designed by utilizing this mode transducer, and relatively wideband characteristics are obtained for both power-split balance and 180° phase difference. In addition, the adequacy of the design result is confirmed by experiments. Finally, a structure of an H-plane planar magic-T is proposed, and good 3-dB hybrid properties are demonstrated by an em-simulation (HFSS).
