An Analysis of Performance Degradation caused by Hidden Terminal in IVC and A Scheme of Improving Degradation
Takamasa Kuge, Kohei Ohno, Makoto Itami (Tokyo Univ. of Sci.) ITS2009-3
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) CSMA scheme which is examined as a media access control in Inter-Vehicle Communication is degraded by hidden terminal problem. However, it is not yet analyzed how many problems exist actually. In this paper, therefore, it is analyzed how many collisions which are caused by hidden terminal problem exist using Packet Loss Rate (PLR). And it is examined how this problem is improved by using Spread Spectrum (SS) scheme in computer simulation. As a result, it is confirmed that the collisions of the packet which caused by hidden terminal problem exist more than that of Carrier Sense failure. Moreover, it is also confirmed that PLR is improved to about a one-third at the maximum by using SS.
