This paper presents a semi-automated method to assess small bowel peristaltic frequency using edge detection method with cine-MRI. It automatically segments the small bowel boundary in every frame and calculates the small bowel width in a radiologist selected ROI. The anisotropic diffusion filter and fast matching are used for the proposed method. It is a multistage process, involving ROI selection and small bowel edge segmentation, and then finding cross points between benchmark line and edge of small bowel, then calculation of small bowel peristaltic frequency. The experiment results show that our method has good consistency with manual detection results and is helpful for the diagnosis of small bowel diseases. |
