Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) is ones of key techniques to improve throughput performance and therefore, the MIMO techniques will be installed for the next generation mobile phone system, such as LTE (Long Term Evolution). It is necessary to define the MIMO antenna requirement in order to efficiently deploy the next generation mobile phone network with a desired quality, since the throughput, which is one of the performance indicators, is largely affected by the property of multi-antenna mounted on mobile phones. Moreover, it is indispensable to develop MIMO antenna OTA (Over-The-Air) testing system which enables us to quantitatively characterize the multi-antenna performance. In this report, MIMO OTA testing system modified based on the already proposed multi-antenna measurement system using reverberation chamber which creates repeatable Rayleigh fading environments with uniformly distributed isotropic scattering conditions is proposed. We present the capability of the proposed system for MIMO OTA testing by comparing the measured results for MIMO antenna performance of two standard antennas and mobile phone antenna model in a multi-antenna configuration with those for conducted testing utilizing the fading simulator.
