Basic Performance of IEEE 802.11n Wireless LAN Interface for Mesh Networks

(in English) In this study, using a product that conforms to the IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0, the basic characteristics and the problems are experimentally investigated and verified to apply IEEE 802.11n for the mesh networks. In order to investigate the effect of the wireless LAN card on communication quality, the effect of card direction is measured and a throughput difference of approximately two times is shown. In the separation characteristics experiments, for the indoor LOS environment, when a change of a few centimeters is made, a severe change in sending rate is observed. In the measurements on the effect of same channel communication interference, throughput measurements were conducted in 4 pattern locations of interference sources. It is shown that the measured RSSI strength at the communication source node from the interference sources' signal affect throughput. In the multi-hop experiments, throughput is measured and the number of transmitted and received packets at each node is counted. In the mesh networks using IEEE 802.11n, throughput potential is observed to be higher than it is using IEEE 802.11g.
