In recent years, realization of VANET (Vehicular Ad-hoc Network) has been demanded for building of Intelligent Transport Systems. In VANET, since there is no guarantee that an vehicle can find any adjacent vehicles
within its radio communication range, vehicle-to-vehicle communication is intermittent. Communication mechanisms with delay tolerance have attracted attention. They can continue communication against communicative intermittence. In the literature, we have proposed DSCF (Directional Store-Carry-Forward) as a broadcast communication mechanism with delay tolerance. Although the effectiveness of DSCF in a simple one-dimensional road model has been shown, the effectiveness of DSCF in more realistic environments has not been clarified. In this paper, therefore quantitatively we investigate characteristics (i.e., diffusivity, certainty, promptness, and efficiency) of the broadcast communication
mechanism DSCF in a two-dimensional grid road through simulation experiments. Consequently, we show that it turns out that DSCF efficiently broadcasts to all directions unless the vehicle density is extremely low. |
