64 QAM-OFDM coherent optical transmission

(in English) Recently, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system, that was originally developed in wireless communication, has been intensively studied in optical communication. The multi-carrier transmission of low-speed orthogonal subcarriers enables us to improve both spectral efficiency and dispersion tolerance by adopting high-level subcarrier modulation formats and employing coherent detection in OFDM. So far, 1 Tb/s per channel OFDM transmission and OFDM optical coherent transmission with 32 QAM subcarrier modulation have been reported. In this report, we realize, for the first time, QAM subcarrier modulation up to 64 levels using 128 subcarriers and demonstrate OFDM transmission over a 160 km.
