Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this report, we propose a new reversible 9-7 discrete wavelet transform (DWT) compatible to the irreversible 9-7 DWT in lossy coding of the JPEG 2000. The proposed method is applicable to the lossless coding. Also, compatibility to the irreversible DWT is increased. In the proposed DWT, all the filters and scalings are factorized into lifting steps. Especially, we factorize the separable two dimensional (2D) transfer function of the 9-7 DWT into non-separable functions. As a result, the number of the lifting steps is reduced to less than half so as the rounding operations. It is experimentally confirmed that the compatibility to the irreversible 9-7 DWT is improved comparing to an existing separable and reversible 9-7 DWT, maintaining lossless coding performance.
