We propose a system which can make a closed loop in brain for stroke patients like voluntary movement. Event Related Desynchronization (ERD) and Event Related Synchronization (ERS) are used to extract patients' motor intention and then Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) stimulus their paralyzed muscles. ERD/ERS appears during motion and motor imagery on the corresponding motor area. But previous research indicates that there is ERS on Cz area during arm motor imagery. Thus, leg motor imagery has a possibility to induce two different components form Cz area; one is ERD/ERS from motor area, and the other is ERS from the previous research mentioned. We examined the leg motor imagery from Cz area (two subjects). The results indicate that ERS reduces as the frequency become higher, but ERD doesn’t reduce as the frequency become higher. These results suggest that there are two different components, and these two components could be useful for the extraction of motor intention. |
