Effects of Canonical Particle Swarm Optimizer with Diversive Curiosity

(in English) This paper proposes a new method, named Canonical Particle Swarm Optimizer with Diversive Curiosity (CPSO/DC), which is expected to improve the search performance of CPSO. A key idea here is to introduce an internal indicator representing diversive curiosity into CPSO for preventing premature convergence and stagnation. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, computer experiments on a suite of 5-dimensional benchmark problems are carried out. We investigate the characteristics of CPSO/DC, and compare its search performance with other methods such as CPSO, ECPSO, and RGA/E. The obtained results indicate that the search performance of CPSO/DC is superior to that by CPSO, ECPSO, and RGA/E (except for the Rastrigin problem).
