Estimation of skeletal muscle fatigue by a displacement MMG -- in the case of isometric elbow flexion at 80% MVC --

(in English) In order to estimate the skeletal muscle fatigue, the biochemical test, the measurement of electromyogram and maximum voluntary contraction etc. are made. In this study, the fatigue of biceps brachii muscle was measured by a displacement MMG (mechanomyogram) when the isometric elbow flexion at 80% MVC was kept to all out, by fixing in 120 degrees, bending position. The displacement MMG-ARV gradually decreased with the progress of the muscle fatigue. The tetanic contraction curve of displacement MMG, which was drawn as increasing the electro-stimulation frequency, greatly decreased, because FF (fast fatigable) / FR (fast, fatigue resistant) motor units seemed to become fatigued easily. When the isometric ramp contraction to the maximum force was done for ten seconds, the muscle force after the fatigue decreased and the displacement MMG-ARV also decreased. It proved these results that the decrease of displacement MMG indicated the decrease of muscle cross section and the cross section was proportional to muscle force. Accordingly it was confirmed that the displacement MMG was an effective index when the muscle fatigue is estimated.
