A new training-type walking, “hip-stride” was developed to increase the exercise and to prevent slipping in a snow country. We measured the oxygen uptake, the heart rate, the EMG and the three dimensional movement of subjects for different walking methods, and analyzed the difference. In the newly proposed walking method, the femoral muscles worked more, and more effect of exercise can be expected than other walking method. The direction of the floor reaction force and the stability of the COG suggested the effectiveness of the proposed walking method to prevent slipping on a frozen surface. |
