Optimality of leg swing trajectories based on energetic cost with considering the effect of elastic component.

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) There are infinite number of possible leg swing trajectories for leg swing during walking. How dose brain design the trajectories? We calculated the optimal trajectories of forward and backwad walking based on energetic cost with considering elastic components of tendons that may affect leg trajectories. The results showed that the optimal trajectories well explain characteristics of actual ones. This result indicate that leg swing trajectories in forward and backward walking are
optimized based on energetic cost. Our results also have shown that the iliopsoas tendon would lift a foot during swing phase and avoid stumbling.
