[Encouragement Talk] All-optical limiter based on signal form transformation -- In search of ideal limiting characteristics --
Hiroomi Goto, Tsuyoshi Konishi, Kazuyoshi Itoh (Osaka Univ.) PN2008-88
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In optical networks, it is necessary to compensate optical signal intensity fluctuations for accurate data reception and accurate signal processing. Since the conventional all-optical limiters basically utilize saturation properties of some transfer functions of materials or systems, they never reach the same performance of ideal limiter and they inevitably have performance limitations for the intensity stabilization. In this paper, we report a new approach to realize a function of ideal limiter, which is a path creation of optical signal by bridge-buildings through signal form transformation.
