Braille Character Recognition by Optical Device

(in English) This paper presents method of Braille character recognition. Braille is very important for visually impaired person. In Japan, ratio of Braille users in all visually impaired people is approximately 10%. Braille reading is difficult than writing. Miyamoto is developed Braille character recognizing software and sold since 1993. User and their need are various. A person who can’t read Braille uses to read Braille letter. A person who can read Braille uses to reduce amount of Braille book. Another usage is for non-handicapped supporter to read Braille.
