A Method of Blind Source Separation for Mixed Voice Separation in Noisy and Reverberating Environment -- Introduction of Genetic Algorithm --
Masato Katou, Kaoru Arakawa (Meiji Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Various methods have been proposed for blind source separation, but additive noise and reverberation must be considered when actual voices are to be processed. In this paper, a method of blind source separation is proposed using genetic algorithm (GA) for separating mixed voices in such noisy and reverberating environment. This method is based on Kawamoto’s method which is a blind separating method for reverberating environment. Generally, the separation becomes insufficient when random noise is added to the mixed voices. In order to solve this problem, GA is introduced to minimize the correlation between the separated voices. Using GA, the mixed voice can be separated sufficiently in noisy and reverberating environment. Computer simulations show the high performance of the proposed system.
