An experiment tool has been provided for visually observing induction of electromotive force due to electromagnetic induction by means of light emitting diodes (LEDs). In this tool, at least one magnet is attached onto a rotatable plate, while an LED is connected to a coil of several turns. Rotating the plate in the vicinity of the coil realizes movement of the magnet(s) along the coil at a certain speed, leading to abrupt changes in magnetic flux through the coil. Thus, a certain electromotive force is induced across the coil, causing the connected LED to flash. Light emission from the LED can be seen with naked eyes. Furthermore, when observing this phenomenon with a high-speed camera capable of capturing high-speed motion pictures up to 1200 frames per second, it can be confirmed that the LED flashing occurs at synchronous timing with movement of the magnet(s). |
