A Study of the Architecture for Web-SIP Convergence Media Services

(in English) Rich Internet Applications (RIA) are widely used in Internet to provide rich services over web browsers. Cooperating with telecommunication functions of Next Generation Network, RIA can provide more varieties of services. To provide such Web-SIP convergence services, RIA must have SIP/RTP stack to leverage NGN functions. However, as existing RIA developers do not have expert knowledge of SIP, it is difficult to implement SIP/RTP communication functions. In this paper, we propose an architecture which separates shared SIP/RTP functions from RIAs, so that developers can implement convergence RIAs with their own web developing technologies. We also evaluated the overheads of SIP signaling and RTP conversion of the architecture with a prototype implementation and showed the feasibility of the proposed architecture.
