An innovative route selection and QoS control mechanism for IP network -- QoS achievement in the LTE/SAE system --

(in English) The IP-based network architecture has been adopted by 3GPP as a foundation network to interconnect various access technologies. In such communication environment, an optimum route selection and an appropriate QoS control are indispensable to guarantee QoS-sensitive real-time applications and control signaling. Existing proposals cannot satisfy all requirements such as performance, scalability, flexibility and reliability simultaneously. Our proposal combines standard protocols, SIP, MPLS-TE, RSVP-TE and so on, to achieve an innovative and effective QoS-guaranteed solution. All communication sessions that require similar QoS priority are grouped together at an edge node of a network. Route selection and QoS control related processing are executed per session group basis rather than per each single session to improve the scalability of the system. We depict the functional module composition. Then we will explain the processing sequence of initial path setup and dynamic path switching. We also analyze the effectiveness of our proposal by comparing to existing proposals.
