Comparison of MAC-frame Receiving-Opportunities Control and IEEE802.11e

(in English) The authors proposed a QoS control scheme for wireless LANs named MAC-frame Receiving-Opportunities Control (ROC), the function of which is achieved merely by modifying Access Points (APs). One of outstanding advantages of ROC is the QoS control by which MAC frames are discarded probabilistically. This article compares the MAC-frame Receiving-Opportunities Control with IEEE 802.11e (EDCA) standard, the QoS extension of IEEE 802.11 DCF, using a simulator and analyzing both schemes' characteristics. In addition, this article shows that ROC attains the priority control without reducing the IEEE 802.11e's effect even when both IEEE 802.11e terminals and ROC-applied terminals are connected to an AP.
