Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) 16APSK and 32APSK, which have high transmission efficiency, are being studied aiming at transmitting more HDTV programs per channel or realizing high quality services beyond HDTV. Multi-level modulation such as APSK is vulnerable to non-linear distortion of satellite transponder. In this paper, we propose a predistortion technique on transmitter which estimates the distortion over the satellite channels in advance and compensates for every signal point based on the estimation. APSK requires quasi-linear transponders which mean larger back-off for operating TWTA (Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier). In this paper, we report investigation results by computer simulation on the compensation effect of this compensation technique.
