Moving targets detection using a coded acoustic signal in indoor environments

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In an indoor acoustic measurement, we examined detection characteristic of moving targets using a coded signal. The correlation gain of the reflected wave from a moving target decreases because of Doppler effect when we use M-sequence signal which is one of coded signals. When changing reference frequency, a correlation peak of a moving target becomes large, but the reflected signal from a fixed target gets mixed as correlation noise. We showed the reflected signal from a fixed target behaves as an environmental noise. The SN ratio and correlation gain were estimated quantitatively. When the reflected signal from a fixed target is large, the differential processing between consecutive received signals is effective to detect the reflected signal of the moving target.
