Path Shadowing Effects by Human Bodies in Indoor 2*2 MIMO Channel
Ippei Kashiwagi (Toshiba), Tokio Taga (Kwansei Gakuin Univ.) AP2008-208
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Dominant reason of channel fluctuation in indoor radio communication will be path shadowing due to pedestrians. This report presents effects of human body shadowing to the 2-by-2 MIMO channel variation using the time-varying path shadowing model. Propagation paths from the transmitter antenna to the receiver antenna are calculated by geometrical optics and signal level variations are introduced to the paths by the time-varying path shadowing model, in order to evaluate the variation characteristics of MIMO channel eigenvalues and the capacity. From this study, we discuss the relationship between channel correlation and SNR in terms of effects to the capacity. We also consider that received level variation due to human body shadowing has significant influence to both channel correlation and SNR degradation, thus that has great influence to the capacity.
