We develop the wide dynamic range wavelength converter, which is a part of the project "Development of Next-generation High-efficiency Network Device Technology" promoted by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). We set semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) on an input signal waveguide to realize wide dynamic range of input signal for stable wavelength conversion. As a result, we achieve wide dynamic range of 14 dB for wavelength conversion at 43 Gbit/s NRZ. This will be a key device for the optical signal exchange gateway between LAN and WDM metro/core network and future all optical network. |
