Buffer Usage aware QoS Control Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks

(in English) Performance greatly deteriorates due to the congestion in the vicinity of a sink node at the time of high traffic in wireless sensor networks. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel adaptive QoS (Quality of Service) control scheme considering buffer consumption at network nodes. The proposed scheme consists of three control mechanisms, i.e., message transmission restraint according to the priority, autonomous collision avoidance and acquisition of the message transmission opportunity. These mechanisms are adaptively carried out depending on buffer consumptions. While it is proven that the proposed scheme guarantees QoS more effectively compared with conventional schemes, the scheme achieves higher delivery ratio and lower power consumption.
