Overhead reduction for cyclostationarity-inducing transmission method

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In previous work, authors proposed a cyclostationarity-inducing transmission method that enables the receiver to distinguish among different signals that use a common orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based air interface. This method is based on dedicating subcarriers at each OFDM symbol to the transmission of specific signals so that the whole OFDM frame comprising several OFDM symbols exhibits cyclostationarity at pre-selected cycle frequencies. In this method, however, no data symbols are able to be transmitted on the dedicated subcarriers, and it incurs the large overhead. Therefore, in this paper, we propose another cyclostationarity-inducing transmission method with lower overhead than the previously-proposed method. Although the proposed method also dedicates some subcarriers, the dedicated subcarriers transmit data symbols, which are copied from non-dedicated subcarriers and phase-rotated. This paper shows that the proposed method can create various CAF peak patterns by choosing the periodicity of the phase rotation, and the proposed method even with half amount of overhead can achieve the detection probability almost equal to that of the previous-proposed method.
