R&D on wireless inter-vehicle communications is undergoing to reduce the number of traffic accidents, such as crossing collisions and right-turn collisions. ATR developed a multi-hop communication technique (MM-SA: Multi-carrier Multi-code Spread ALOHA), which is based on the spread ALOHA access scheme to achieve high reliability and low latency in the real traffic environment with many cars. The performance of this technique has been evaluated assuming the inter-vehicle communication using 5.8 GHz band, compared with CSMA/CA. The MM-SA achieves the packet success probability as high as almost 100% and the transmission latency as small as several milliseconds. This paper presents the overview of this technique. |
