Study on multi-antenna measurement system using reverberation chamber

(in English) Receive diversity and MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) is ones of key techniques to improve throughput performance and therefore, these techniques will be installed for the next generation mobile phone system, such as LTE (Long Term Evolution). Since throughput performance is strongly related to mobile phone’s multi-antenna performance, it is necessary to define the multi-antenna performance in order to operate mobile phone network with desired quality. In order to define the multi-antenna performance, multi-antenna measurement system which enables us to quantitatively characterize the multi-antenna performance is indispensable. In this report, multi-antenna measurement system using reverberation chamber which creates repeatable Rayleigh fading with a uniformly distributed isotropic scattering environment is proposed. In order to show the availability of the proposed system for multi-antenna measurements, we compare the measured results for multi-antenna performance of two dipole antennas with different configurations and mobile phone antenna model having multi-antenna elements with the simulated results and conducted results, respectively.
