We proposed selection method of optical components for minimizing the sum of CAPEX and OPEX of optical fiber networks. We showed the expression of criteria of the cumulative failure rate of an optical component in order to keep the network service quality. We also described the solutions for minimizing total cost by selecting the most suitable optical component from components with various prices and various failure rates. We calculated the total cost of concrete examples, and showed that our selection methods is efficient in minimizing the total cost of optical fiber networks. |
