Heart thickness is very important index in quantitative evaluation of cardiac function. Previously, we had been calculated heart thickness from 3-D myocardial shape generated by linearly interpolation contour in axial slice. Therefore, it has problems that calculation of wall thickness depends on the detection accuracy. In this paper, we first extracted epi- and endocardial walls by level set method. We then approximated these extracted walls with 3D NURBS(Non-uniformed rational B-spline) model for accuracy improvement. We finally created a bull's eye map to evaluate wall thickness for easy visual understanding. As a result, this method suppressed the variation of the detection and smoothed bull's eye maps of wall thickness. |
