In this work we propose a hardware implementation of a system based on
pulsed neurons which is able to localize and identify sounds in the same
way as the human auditory system does. Previous works presented
localization results for a half-plane of 180 degrees using time-delay
information from both left and right sides. In this work we extend this
plane to 360 degrees, aiming one microphone to the front and the other
to the back on the 360 degrees full-plane and processing the time-delay
and sound pressure's difference between both channels. Experimental
results show the efficiency of the proposed method when localizing the
sound source among 8 possible directions on the full-plane. |
