Channel Capacity in 2-hop OFDMA Virtual Cellular Network using Parallel Relay Route

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the next generation mobile communication systems, high speed data services are expected. However, unacceptable large transmit power may be required. Multi-hop technique can reduce the total transmit power for relay transmission compared with single hop transmission. In this paper, we propose the parallel relay transmission using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), in which the multiple parallel routes (one subcarrier is allocated to each link) are constructed between mobile terminal and base station in order to reduce the transmit power and improve the transmission performance. Full search allocation, where all combinations of subcarriers and routes are examined and the best combination which gives the maximum channel capacity is searched, requires a prohibitively large number of searching. Therefore, we study a successive allocation to reduce the number of searching. We evaluate the channel capacity of proposed parallel relay transmission and compare it, cooperative diversity and conventional single hop network.
