Noncontact ultrasonic thickness gauging for steel structures in ports

(in English) We proposed the novel thickness measurement technique for steel structures in ports. The technique is based on ultrasonic multiple reflection can perform the noncontact measurement. To verify the validity of the technique, we measured the error of the measurement using a steel plate with shells in a test tank. From the results, the error was 0.2 mm equivalent to 1 % of the thickness. We also investigated effects of the alignment accuracy. We carried out measurements successfully by the continuous scan.
