National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) plans to construct time comparison system between a satellite, which is equipped with an atomic clock, and an earth station using TWSTFT (two way satellite time and frequency transfer). TWSTFT system can cancel most of the propagation delays such as ionospheric and tropospheric delays at same frequency and at a common path. However, when the frequencies of transmission and reception are different, ionospheric delay will be considerable. In addition, in case the satellite is non-geostationary, the position changes of the satellite should be considered. Some estimation of delays due to these error sources are carried out for highly-precise time comparison on the premise of using a quasi-zenith satellite (QZS). |
