Design, fabrication and performance of the frequency and gain tunable, multiple bandpass or bandstop differential amplifiers are presented. Active load circuits comprised of a varactor diode and a bipolar transistor are connected in parallel with LC resonators to achieve frequency and gain tunable performance. In addition, the individual resonant frequency of the LC resonator is adjusted to vary the number of matching bands. With the use of 0.35 m SiGe HBTs and C2V/C10V=2.5 varactor diodes, the implemented amplifiers show a frequency tunable range of 0.5 to 1.3GHz with a gain variation of 8.4dB for the bandpass amplifier as well as a frequency tunable range of 0.53 to 1.16GHz with a gain variation of 9.3dB for the bandstop amplifier. The number of bands can be changed from 1 to 2. |
