Context Information Dilution for Privacy Protection in Location-based Services

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Today, people can easily obtain their location by Global Positioning System, which is becoming important in social networking services and marketing. However, it often causes a privacy issue that a general user publicizes his/her location and the details of action. In order to achieve appropriate use of the location information, we propose a new method to quantify the relation between a user and his/her location with ambiguation of the whole context, for social network communication. This value behaves like ``a scent'' as a metaphor. Furthermore, a concept model is demonstrated with a social networking service, in which users share each other's ``scents'' for their communication.
