Proposal and Evaluation of Adaptive MAC-Frame Receiving-Opportunity Control in Wireless LANs

(in English) IEEE802.11e poses problems such as the number limit of priority classes, inability of priority control among the same class flows and the necessity of the modification of terminals. The authors proposed a novel QoS control scheme for wireless LANs named MAC-frame Receiving-Opportunities Control (ROC) enabling the function installation merely by modifying Access Points (APs). One of major functions of this scheme is the QoS control by which MAC frames are discarded probabilistically. This scheme, however, has a problem of insufficient bandwidth utilization. This article proposes a dynamic scheme of ROC which changes the probability of MAC-frame denial according to the network traffic condition in order to solve the problem. The effectiveness of the propose scheme is evaluated and proven through the network simulation.
