[Invited Talk] Generating Robot Hand Motion by Imitating Human
Jun Takamatsu (Nara Institute of Science and Technology) HIP2008-111
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The framework of imitating human mechanism and behavior is very attractive as one method for achieving human dexterous manipulation by a robot. Existence of various research directions to realize the framework confuses even our researchers. Thus, we introduce our research activities for moderating such confusion. In concrete, we discuss the following five topics: 1. design of a robot hand based on human mechanism, 2. estimation of human hand configurations using multi-camera vision system to digitize human dexterity, 3. recognition and generation of in-hand manipulation based on task models, 4. evaluation of pinching grasp to index human dexterity, and 5. generation of piano playing CG to evaluate humanity or dexterity of generating motion.
