Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, brain activities during subjects performing visually-guided saccade tasks were measured and analyzed by the combination of fMRI and MEG. An apparent motion stimulus was used during a control experiment. Event-related neuromagnetic fields were obtained by a 306-channel MEG system, whereas fMRI data were acquired by a 1.5T MR system. Eight healthy with normal and corrected -to-normal visual acuity participated in the experiments. To determine the latency of saccade in each subject, EOGs were measured simultaneously. Although there were individual differences, the integrative fMRI-MEG technique successfully detected dynamic neural activities in multiple visual areas, such as V1/V2, MT+/V5, intraparietal sulcus and frontal eye field. The results demonstrate that the MT+/V5 activates before starting visually-guided saccade.
