A Study on Transmission Timing Control Method for Collision Avoidance in Ad hoc Multicast

(in English) Recently, multicast delivery methods for delivering data packets to multiple terminals are examined in ad hoc networks.
However, the broadcast mode is used for multicast delivery when IEEE 802.11 is employed for ad hoc networks.
It is known that the hidden terminal problem occurs when the broadcast mode is used in IEEE 802.11.
The data packet collisions occur due to the hidden terminal problem since some forwarding terminals transmit the same data packet at the same instance in multicast delivery.
In this paper, we propose a transmission timing control method that each hidden terminal selects the different transmission timing by using the neighbor terminals information from downstream terminals.
In the proposed method, each terminal creates a list of neighbor terminals in its transmission area.
Then, the upstream terminals can detect their hidden terminals by using this list.
From simulation results, it is shown that the proposed method can achieve the high data delivery ratio.
