[Encouragement Talk] Performance Improvement of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Deployment of Directional Antenna

(in English) Directional antenna is one of the most promising ways of improving spatial usage of wireless channel in ad hoc networks. In ad hoc networks, it will be general situation that not all hosts are equipped with directional antenna. In our previous works, we have already evaluated static ad hoc networks and show that control packet overhead due to route recovery caused by wireless channel contention degrades network throughput performance. Ad hoc networks are in general used in mobile environment. So, in this paper, we evaluate directional antenna deployment effect in mobile ad hoc networks. Simulation results show that mobility of hosts brings load balance effect on packet relaying load which leads to great performance
improvement also in the situation of partial deployment of directional antenna.
