This paper proposes a method to reduce scan time using detection probability in order that terminals omit some of channels to scan on which probability to find usable APs is apparently low. The detection probability is a probability that any of two APs (APi and APj) are found at the same time under the condition when APi is found. Our simulation results show that the scan time has been reduced by more than 40% compared with a RSSI based AP selection method. The proposed method is expected to improve the quality of service of real-time applications on mobile terminals. |
