Improving Rate-Adaptive LDPC Coding Performance Based on Syndrome Rate Estimation for Distributed Video Coding

(in English) Distributed Video Coding (DVC), based on the multiuser information theorems proposed by Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv, is attracting attention as a new paradigm for video compression. Unfortunately, DVC decoders that use channel coding based on message-passing algorithms are extremely complex. To reduce the decode time, we have already proposed a parallelized DVC framework that treats each bitplane independently. In this paper, we improve the coding performance of Rate-Adaptive LDPC(RA-LDPC), which is used in the parallelized DVC framework. The previous work used one sparse matrix, which included RA-LDPC coder. This latest work selects a fitting sparse matrix for each bitplane according to the syndrome rate estimation results at the encoder side. Simulations show that our proposal achieves a bit rate reduction of about 10[%].
