NEMT(NEC Microwave Tube, Ltd.) is developing a DBS band high power traveling-wave tube (TWT) as an amplifier in the systems which are used in earth stations for satellite communications. This DBS band TWT is applied the technology grown in C band and Ku band TWTs, the target output power is 500W and 750W. As the features, these TWTs have realized high efficiency (low power consumption) by use of dual stage depressed collector, as well as get a substantial small and lightweight compared with the conventional TWT by adoption of the conduction cooling system. Now we confirmed stable operation at CW output power of 500W, this paper describes development outline of 500W TWT and design of 750W TWT. |
