Restraint of Manganese Elution from Cathode Active Material for Lithium-ion Battery

(in English) It is widely known that Mn-ion elution from cathodes to electrolyte is one of the cause of the degradation in lithium ion cells using lithium manganese spinels as the cathode active material. It is also known that electrolytes have flame-resistance by adding phosphazene-based flame retardants. However, we found that the Mn-ion elution can be accelerated by adding them. In this paper, we report the improvement of Mn-ion dissolution features by the change of electrolyte salts.
